Nasopharyngeal Flocked Swabs

Description of what it is and how it is used

A flexible swab used for the collection of a nasopharyngeal (NP) specimen for molecular detection of respiratory viruses including COVID 19, i.e. we can only do tests to the extent that we have one of these swabs for each test.

Mandatory requirements

  • Mini-tip capable of entering the nasopharyngeal (NP) passage
  • Synthetic swabs with plastic shafts
  • The stem/shaft must be flexible and long enough to collect the NP sample
  • Individually packaged
  • Sterile
  • Swabs CANNOT:
    • Contain calcium alginate
    • Have a wooden shaft
    • Contain preservatives
    • Contain a cotton tip

Optional requirements

Flocked swabs are preferred
